alpharaposa: (cooking)

Since I started using the slow cooker, I have eaten more onions than in any time in my life. Two onions in this recipe, three in that one, two more in the next... they're everywhere! It seems that old-fashioned cooking is about 1/3 onions. O.O

At last, I begin to understand the panel in A Cartoon History of the Universe where one Greek asks another, "Don't you ever get tired of onions?" The reply: "Tired of food?"

Nana's family came from Kentucky. She couldn't imagine cooking without onions.

Heh, it's true, I do use a lot of onions in cooking. I'll chop up an onion to go with a chicken apple sausage and mixed veggies for scrambled eggs, or for chili or spaghetti sauce, and sautee the onion bits to be sweet. It just seems to be a natural component of savory foods.

Onions and garlic are practically a staple for me.
