Migraine news

On the postdrome phase of a particularly nasty migraine attack. It started out not so bad, but I think I had a rebound effect do me in.
When I was pregnant, I was given some vasoconstrictors to take since most painkillers were out of question. I discovered that this only delayed the onset of the worst symptoms by a few hours. Once the meds wore off, the migraine resumed where it left off. So, unless I really needed to concentrate, I just let it go on. Fortunately, I had few migraines while pregnant.
So, on Tuesday, I had a migraine, but not that bad of one. I took some Tylenol and was getting through the workday. A stressful situation came up. I focused on it, got it all fixed, and the migraine receded to the background. Silly me, I thought it was getting over with. Instead, I think the adrenaline from the stress response temporarily pushed it back.
Yesterday, it came back. With a vengeance. So, I got normal migraine plus rebound effect. For the first time, I took sick time due to a migraine and left at lunch. Even so, lying down in a dark room at home didn't kill the migraine, and I ended up throwing up in the late afternoon.
If I had more time, I'd like to spend some time in a good library, looking up the research on migraines and learning more. But, alas, I do not have time. I must go to work now, work my 8 hours, then come home and clean house and care for the cub and spend a little time with the hubby.
Migraines suck not because of the pain, but because they eat away a whole day or more each time that I could spend doing better things.
