It's warm enough that I can open up the windows and air out the house. This has prompted some cleaning, though in short bouts with rests in-between.

While out running errands today, I stopped at a Home Depot to look at the plants. I want to pick up an aloe for the kitchen and a spider plant for the front room. In the middle of the "full sun" shrubs was a sign. It said, "Please be careful! Nesting duck. :)"

I peeked into the small break in the middle of the pots of shrubs, and, sure enough, there was the distinctive pattern of feathers from a duck's back. Probably some wet night, it had decided that here was a place with lots of plants and settled in.

The neighbors put out some stuff to try to sell it, but it was cold enough this morning to keep folks away. We chatted a bit, and one of them helped me cut down the shrub that blew over this winter. It's in small enough pieces now that it can be hauled into the back to be burned.

that's cuuute! good on them for not moving the duck.

We went out to the park to feed the ducks and swans in the lake. There was a female with a bunch of babies, probably only a few days old. A black swan or two tried timidly eating from our hands; there was one brave duck though, a young male I think, who was more than willing to eat straight out of my hands.

To our surprise a bunch of the lake's freshwater eels also came up to nibble. They were huge!

I used to feed the ducks at a park in Terre Haute, but if you threw it in the water, all the fish would get to it first.
