political foo: Girl Scout disappointment

I find the contents of this article sad, but not surprising. The Girl Scouts of my youth were even then buying into the more leftward elements of feminism. I think it's a large part of why I haven't kept up the contacts and affection with them that I have with the Boy Scouts.

I wish they were really a place for empowering women. Sometimes, some groups still are.

The words of Galadriel apply to me in so many ways: "we have fought the long defeat." I wish things would turn around. The Girl Scouts are deeply systemic; the government is the presenting symptom.
