I've canceled my World of Warcraft subscription. For now, at least. It runs out in three days. I'll log in and make sure all the mail drifting between characters gets taken care of, so nothing gets deleted while I'm not playing.

Guilds make the game, and lately, The Unbroken's "vanguard" group has become pretty much the only group doing anything. If your project conflicts with one of theirs, well, theirs is gonna happen. Not yours.

*sigh*

I can't get excited about the expansion. Okay, the quests and the lore would be interesting, but it'll still be there later.

I wish there were a really good way to play old-fashioned tabletop RPGs online.

*sigh*, indeed.

there are some decent ways. the suite of programs hooked up to D&D Insider for online play get pretty good reviews.

We found a decent utility called Dices that works fairly well. It's not the greatest but it's free and fairly easy to use.

I'm actually giving throught to doing an on-line tabletop game, using voice chat software (probably TeamSpeak) and some sort of typing chat (for dice rolling).

(a) Could you give me some details on Dices, maybe a link?

(b) Would you and/or [livejournal.com profile] stryck be interested in playing?

a)Sure, you can find it here.

b)It's possible.

Sweet, thanks for the link. Installed and fiddling, and it looks quite promising. I'd like to pair it up with voice chat for a bit more of a personal touch if I ran an on-line campaign.

I would warn you that we don't play GURPS anymore. The crunchiness made us give it up.

No problem. GURPS is too complicated for on-line play anyways. I was actually planning to use either Tales From the Floating Vagabond, or even Toon. The idea being to keep it simple, and funny. Also, I was going to run a Villain campaign. Basically have the players be a group of bad guys, thrown together for a job, and then go from there. If you've seen the movie Ronin, that would be a good example of the style, but take away the serious aspect and insert generous doses of humor.

That is a shame. My guild has basically fallen apart too, although a few of our core players are going to reform once the expansion hits - aiming more for the 10-man raids, since we have a small core group that works well together.

We are also considering transferring servers. At the moment, we are on the Destromath-US (PvP) server. We can transfer for free to Ragnaros-US (PvP), due to underpopulation. You guys would be welcome to join up with us (server transfer or not), if you want. I can guarantee an active role in an experienced and mature guild.

I find it pretty fun that just as I'm getting tired of playing, the guild grew an extra six people and now we regularly have 8-14 people online at night. o_O

My sister and her husband now play (they're in Chicago) so it's a good way to hang out with them... so that's why I'm still subscribed.
