Nothing quite gets my adrenaline running like applying for jobs. -.-' I've never had panic attacks, but sending out resumes and cover letters comes close.

Seeking employment

Suggestion:

Treat it like a video game or RPG.
Rules:
1. There are a set of guidlelines for successful play.
2. You have a wonderful set of attributes going in.
3. You can build upon those attributes as you learn more details about the nature of the position

And, where you find a good fit, the interview process allows you the chance tailor the description of your skills better and better to what the employer needs.

One way to make yourself really appealing to an employer is to turn the interview into a process of discovery, asking where the employer is less than fully satisfied with the area you are applying for, and how you might make that better (in his/her view). By doing this you are letting the employer talk about himself/herself (everyone loves to do that) and you are demonstrating that your interest is in doing the best job for the employer - even better than it is being done currently.

Some questions you can ask (without sounding arrogant or ignorant) that allow the employer to respond to this might be:

1. "In my past positions, I've always been curious why some procedures/practices appear inefficient, but no one takes the time to fix them. They just continue to be done the same way. Do you have things like that here, that I might help improve?"

2. "Do things 'really' work differently here than they might be described in formal procedures? I've often discovered that in previous positions. I'm really enthusiastic to learn how thngs work best. Can you share examples of such practices?"

On your last foray into the world of work, you built on your bent toward techie stuff, and ability to communicate articulately and courteously. You can apply this same process of identifying other areas of your strengths as well.

Best wishes in your search.
