Well, that sucks

We tried to fix the leaky spigot today. We took off the wheel, took off the stem nut, and tried to pull out the stem. The spigot is not designed for the stem to come out. So, there's no way to fix the spigot. It has to be replaced.
We went to Lowe's anyway to pick up parts. A guy at the plumbing section found us a proper cap to cap off the spigot, and we picked up some caulk as well. We capped it off, sealed everything up, and will probably hire a plumber to replace the whole darn thing once we get back from Cancun. If it were a simple, screw-on spigot, we'd have replaced it today, but naturally, it isn't. It's welded onto the end of the pipe.
Ah, well. We picked up some other things while we were there. We now have a garbage disposal key in case our disposal gets clogged again, and a meter key to turn our house's water on and off ourselves. Hurrah. Less waiting on the gum'ment workers.
