Perci hasn't been scratching his ears much lately. And, after only a couple of days, he's putting up with the actual medicating fairly well. I hold him, making sure to tuck my elbow around his butt so he can't back out, and he only flinches a little bit while [livejournal.com profile] anher drops cold liquid in his ears and then rubs it in.

Eight more days to go.

(Holding a cat is one of those talents that takes a while to learn. First of all, it's best to wear jeans or other strong fabric, since the cat will be on your lap and his back paws will be free. The proper hold is to tuck the cat under your arm, holding his front legs with your hand. For this type of medication, our vet showed us how to hold the kitty's head to keep it level and still. It takes two people to medicate in this fashion- one to hold the cat still, and the other to drop the drops in. Pills are doable with one person, but you'll get more scratches.)

Glad to hear the medicating is going well. For strugglers, I like the flesh-saving kitty burrito strategy: take one cat (on floor) and place over cat one old towel. Swiftly wrap towel around cat, enclosing all paws but leaving head free. And doncha know, they just love it. ;)

Glad to hear he is doing better. Glad that you're not getting all scratched up. I haven't had to give Cuthbert medicine yet. I'm afraid he would be all claws and teeth. After having to take medicine so much Fuji just resigned himself to it and was fairly cooperative.
