We have three litterpans. One in the bathroom, and the other two together in an out of the way corner of the kitchen.

One of the two litterpans in the kitchen is only used by the cats to poop, and one is only used by them to pee.

I don't know quite why they decided that this was the proper way to do things, but that's how it's done.
