No Hartz, ever.

I'd normally pass by websites like this one, except I've had issues with Hartz, too. Got my kitties the Hartz flea drops one time a few years back, and they threw up over the next couple of days. Never bought those again.

Looking over the stories on the website and seeing some others posted on livejournal, I guess those flea drops aren't the only badly toxic items Hartz has sold. It also seems like my kitties got off lucky.

The company I'm working at is a subsidiary of Hartz, one which makes feed and pet treats, as well as milling and packaging various kinds of wood-shaving beddings. This includes cedar, which isn't healthy for small animals, but also aspen, which is.

Thankfully, no other poisons are (to my knowledge) part of the products made there.

Even so, "Suffer not a poisoner to live". I'm conflicted.

I notice a couple of other people on that site complaining about other companies' products. It may be that they're buying something too strong for their beasties.

Still, it's a shame that any little animals have to suffer, whether the culprit is a company making bad products or an owner who doesn't read the package specs.

Then again, some critters don't tolerate any such products well. We've always used prescription stuff for Sassy (which she hates, because it burns).
