video games
Feb. 21st, 2008 01:26 pmI have this brand new, shiny Wii, and what am I playing on it? Shining Force, naturally. All my glee goes into playing an old Sega Genesis game.
Of course, today, I had one of those moments where the game mechanics prompted a "Wait a minute.." reaction. I'm referring to the Party in My Pocket phenomenon. It's an acceptable break from reality to allow movement about the screen, but at one point, my main character gets in a dinky little guest boat to punt around talking to mermaids and people on islands. It's the size of the people he's talking to.
So where am I keeping half a dozen centaurs, a steam-powered armadillo, and the handful of humans that show up when I go to the combat stage?
Sometime, it would be interesting to play a (not terribly serious) role-playing game in which this was a known ability. Would one of the prerequisites of being a hero be the ability to carry other people around in extra-dimensional space?
