alpharaposa: (momcub)

There was a pastor walking in the woods, when a grizzly bear suddenly showed up and charged him. He ran and the bear followed, until finally he was cornered up against a rock. So the pastor cried out, "Oh Lord, make this bear a Christian bear!"

To his astonishment, the bear then knelt down, put his paws together and prayed, "Lord, for what I am about to receive..."

Anyway, there was a Halloween party at the church yesterday, and the werecub went as himself. I mean, as a bear. A group that does pony rides was there with some chickens and ducks and a goat to look at as well as the ponies, so the werecub got to meet some animals as well as some people. We got to say hi to some folks from church and chat about kids (the main topic when parents get together, it seems). Tonight, we will probably put the werecub in his costume again for a little bit to greet the trickle of trick or treaters that come by.

[livejournal.com profile] wyld_dandelyon is offering a card draw over at her journal for Halloween - go here: http://wyld-dandelyon.livejournal.com/139541.html

This is her first draw! Go say hi. She also takes tips if you're feeling generous.

I made this recipe today: http://www.wholegraingourmet.com/recipes/43-cookies/58-healthy-oatmeal-cookies.html

They're very mild, and not very sweet. I didn't put in raisins because I don't much like raisins in baked goods. Instead, I put in some semi-sweet chips. But it wasn't quite right. I think, if I do them again, I'd put in a cup of chopped dates and maybe some flaked coconut. That would add the right touch of fruit sweetness to the cookie.
