Winter hazards
Feb. 1st, 2010 05:33 pmWell, the roads this morning after a few inches of snow in VA Beach were as bad as you'd get after a blizzard in Indiana. They're just not stocked up for a major snowfall around here, with only a handful of plows and no salt or sand on the roads.
Made it in to work fine. Lots of slick ice, but nothing I haven't seen before.
At 4:40, we were told we could go home if we wanted to and make up the time later this week. At 5:00, we were told to GO HOME. The sun's going down, the melting snow is freezing again, and the workplace didn't want to be responsible for any accidents. Weatherman predicts sleet/freezing rain tonight.
Hubbie's still at work. Pray for him to get home safe here in an hour.
