alpharaposa: (christmas)
Household goods and books topped the presents this year instead of toys. All to the good, I think.

I tried out the Dr Bronner soap [livejournal.com profile] prester_scott and [livejournal.com profile] gen got me today. It's the Citrus scent, which was pleasantly crisp and light. I will keep using it for a few more days and see if it helps with the dry skin that always plagues me in the winter. Much thanks!

The books ranged all over. Once again, my sister-in-law and her hubbie got me one of [livejournal.com profile] haikujaguar's books. My secret suppliers. :) I also have a set of books by the Beard family (Dan Beard and his wife and daughter - Scouts may recognize the name as Dan Beard was a founder of the BSA), which have much knowledge, some of it dangerous by today's standards. Kite making! Kite battling! Catching fish! Taxidermy! Making ovens in the wild! All very cool stuff.

I got a few kitchen appliances, to replace the ones that broke this year. The only toy we got was a Wii Fit Plus, so a very 'grown-up' Christmas, really. We both got socks. Mine are hiking Thorlos, which are always welcome.

Because I had a migraine earlier in the week, a few of our presents will go out late. I hope to get some baking and cleaning done today, but otherwise, it'll be a day of rest and movies, along with some of the Mythbusters marathon.

Merry Christmas to everyone! Glory to God, and on Earth peace, goodwill to men!
