alpharaposa: (cooking)
So, taking all the advice given me, I have created a pasta salad.

1 box of tri-colored rotini pasta
1 ham steak, chopped into cubes
3-4 green onions, chopped
1 stalk celery, chopped small
Some grape tomatoes
1 clove garlic
Generous amount of mayo

I threw the garlic clove in with the water for the pasta when I cooked it, then took it out and smushed it with a glass and threw the mess in with the mayo. I cut the grape tomatoes into thirds and fourths, which removed the "Ugh, tomato" problem. Everything was mixed and chilled. [livejournal.com profile] anher pronounced it good, and suggested more mayo next time.

I did buy some sun-dried tomatoes to taste, and, um, wow. Too much tomato. I may shred them up for flavor in something else sometime, though. And I was not brave enough to put pineapple in with green onions.

Rainy day

Yes, it's a wet day out today, at last. We've had a pretty dry summer here in our corner of Virginia, so all this rain being sent by the hurricanes further south is something of a blessing.

[livejournal.com profile] anher and I changed our 'light exercise day' to Saturday, in deference to a new gaming schedule. Last Saturday, we took a hike out at First Landing and peered into drying mud where there were lakes and pools just this spring. He wondered if it was the tide, but we could see dry wood lying on the ground. At least there was one pool along the trail, with some turtles in it. I hope we get more rain for the poor fish and turtles.

As the demon said, it's an ill tide that washes nobody's toe nails clean.
