Political foo: watching history unfold?
Jul. 13th, 2006 07:00 pmI don't know how many folks have heard about the two IDF soldiers that were kidnapped by Hizbollah. If you watch the news, you probably have.
And, of course, Israel has gone in pursuit of the kidnappers.
And now, rumors say that the kidnappers may be taking their prisoners into Iran or Syria. Ahmadinejad said that a strike against Syria would be attack on Islamic world, and that an Israeli attack on Syria would elicit 'fierce response'. Israel has been fired upon from positions in southern Lebanon. At least one of the missiles is of Iranian make, so rumors say.
So little is confirmed right now, but it all has a look that could be described as 'lit match in a fireworks factory'.
This crisis may pass relatively quietly, but with the current precarious balance in the Middle East, I wouldn't be surprised if it turns suddenly very big and noisy.
