I like how they mention "colder, northern areas" towards the end of the report...well, I can certainly save him the trouble by pointing out the fact that Daylight Savings Time does precisely SQUAT up here. During the summer, the sun doesn't set up here until well past midnight, and during the winter, it's up for -maybe- 3 to 4 hours.

Well. Maybe another study would help, but the opportunity to observe particular things before and after the change is gone; now we just have records of already observed things.

Still, comparing the social benefits and drawbacks would be a good thing. By how much is crime reduced, for example, and how much more productivity and entertainment usage occur; and does the agglomerated cost thereof outweigh the cost of wasted electricity?
