I had trouble with it. The mechanic of flipping yourself up past the clouds just didn't click with me.

Ditto. Tried it a few weeks ago, couldn't even get more than 3 clouds up. :[

You don't have to flip yourself past the clouds at first. Just swing until you can see one higher up and then click on that.
