Political foo: Ports

If you haven't heard the hysteria over the Dubai Ports World buyout of port management, you must be even more out of the loop than I am.

The first I heard of it, it seemed a bad idea in a vague kind of way. Cox and Forkum jumped on the bandwagon against early on, and that's where I first encountered the news. But if I've learned anything about current events, it's that the first version put out there rarely has the information that's really important.

An essay in the NRO argues that the UAE isn't a threat, it's an ally and it should be treated like one.

It explains things (from a pro-Dubai standpoint) quite well. It's an opinion article, so it's urging one choice over another, but the facts supporting his point are the same ones I've seen elsewhere.

Looks like much ado about nothing.

Incidentally, I don't watch TV news these days unless I'm really bored. I'm curious how this story's been treated.
